Very Official Blog, FEED FridayBlog Title: Very Official Blog
Description/tagline: Social Media Integration Means Business

This is a great blog for social media and marketing enthusiasts.  A lot of the topics Shannon writes about are simple, yet don’t have solid answers. Questions are posed and it really gets social media strategists thinking about the larger picture of organizations and social media marketing. This blog allows for more interactions among readers as well because of the subjective nature of the topics. It’s a win/win!

I recommend this blog if you are interested in: social media and marketing and how it pertains to organizations.

feedfriday, hyperbole and a half, blogBlog Title: Hyperbole and a Half
Description: If I had to explain myself in six words, those words would be “heroic, caring, alert and flammable.”  That’s only four words. Oh well, I guess I should have thought of that before I started writing.  Too late now.

That description pretty much sums up this blog.  It’s not informative at all, but that makes it what it is. All the bright colors instantly grab me and make me want to look around. My favorite section is under the “Drawings” link. It’s here where you see some funny stuff that just makes your day a tiny bit brighter.

I recommend this blog if you are interested in: seeing funny stick figures and drawings; aimlessly cruising random websites; or getting mesmerized by bright colors.

Blog Title: ParisDailyPhotoParis, France, Blog, photos
Description: The blog that started the City Daily Photo community

Ok. This site really has little to do with marketing, media, or advertising, except if you think about it in terms of marketing the entire city of Paris – then it fits perfectly on my blog! The ParisDailyPhoto updates usually pop up in my Google Reader and I love scrolling through the photos and commentaries.
For having quite the traveling obsession, this blog is able to slightly curb my travel bug.  It’s ALMOST like I am going on a vacation in my head…which sometimes is necessary, right? ParisDailyPhoto is great to add to your Reader and just scroll through.  It’s always interesting to see the random photos taken throughout the city, and most importantly, see photos of the delicious desserts and food.

I recommend this blog if you are interested in: Paris in general; or are planning a trip to France anytime soon.

MarketingProfs, blog, websiteBlog Title: MarketingProfs

Description: MarketingProfs helps readers navigate their way to market their business and keep them informed of the newest and best tools.

MarketingProfs is another great marketing and social media resource. Its information includes articles, case studies, seminars, etc. I especially like reading the articles for ideas relating to business instead of personal. They also offer a plethora of email newsletters you can sign up for, which are filled with readable content. MarketingProfs is another great blog/site to keep up with.

I recommend this blog if you are interested in: keeping up with general marketing ideas and the latest tools in the entire marketing field. Good information on a business level.

Each Friday I post and tweet about my favorite blogs to read.

Advertising blog, ads, photosBlog Title: I Believe In Advertising

Description: The best selection of advertising and marketing around the globe, updated daily. A point of reference for advertising professionals and those interested in it.

I Believe In Advertising isn’t as much a blog as it is an advertising community.  All kinds of advertising campaigns and information exist on this site. It’s easy to scroll through and find ads you like or don’t like – analyze why that is – and just have a reference if you’re interested in advertising.

I recommend this blog if you are interested in: advertising and learning about different campaigns. This blog is great for viewing photos of ads and descriptions of campaigns. It’s also great to see the advertising agencies that created each ad.

branding, marketing, feedfriday, blogBlog Title: Brand Autopsy
Description: A blog about branding and marketing.

Brand Autopsy is actually a marketing “practice.” Its blog is especially cool because it provides commentary on big brands and what they’re up to, cool sites, and marketing/branding tips. Much of the information is helpful to other marketers, and some of the posts on this blog are just plain fun. All posts are informative, but are nice short reads.

I recommend this blog if you are interested in: reading short and fun posts about branding and marketing.

#FEEDFriday – PsyBlog

Each Friday I post and tweet about my favorite blogs to read. Find the hashtag #FEEDFriday on Twitter and/or check here every Friday for info and links to my favorite blogs.

Blog Title: PsyBlogPsychology, blog, psyblog
Description: A blog that provides psychology studies relevant to everyday life. Most of the studies are very interesting to read and helpful to everyday life. They are often based on current culture and what’s going on now, which makes them more interesting and applicable.

PsyBlog covers various areas of Psychology, including Social and Cognitive. I do wish it had more information about Abnormal Psychology, but I get that this is a blog more about everyday life and culture. This site will suck you in, especially if you’re a social media user, because many of the studies are about Facebook, Twitter, and Email users.  A lot of this information is helpful to marketing and advertising folks, too. And for that reason, I recommend this blog.

I recommend this blog if you are interested in: psychology and learning about the human mind in pretty simple terms. It’s always nice to scan the homepage and see if an article pops out – at least one usually does.

#FEEDFriday – Don’t Drink the KoolAid

Each Friday I post and tweet about my favorite blogs to read. Find the hashtag #FEEDFriday on Twitter and/or check here every Friday for info and links to my favorite blogs.

Blog Title: Don’t Drink the KoolaidBailey Gardiner, Don't Drink the Koolaid, blog, ad agency, San Diego
Description: A blog about public relations, advertising, social media, design and online marketing in simple terms.

This blog is produced by Bailey Gardiner, a San Diego Interactive Ad and PR Agency. Many of the employees contribute and post to this blog which makes it great in its diversity of topics and writing styles. It really doesn’t feel like a “business-run” blog, IMO, which is why I recommend it. Get the business insight without the business feel.

Another great feature of Don’t Drink the KoolAid is that the blog entries are relatively simple and short. Sometimes I see an interesting blog title that lures me in. However, usually when I click and see 10 paragraphs, I tune out immediately. This blog always seems to keep it short and sweet with relevant and interesting posts. Some of my favorite posts include: Ten Signs You May Be A Prepress Pro, How to use Foursquare: New Updates for Users and Marketers, and How Do You Know When Something Has “Gone Viral?”

I recommend this blog if you are interested in: reading short, yet jam-packed with information blog posts regarding advertising, social media, PR, and sometimes travel and San Diego.

How About Orange, Blog, creative ideas, FEEDFriday, graphic designerBlog Title: How About Orange
Description:
Features craft project how-tos, decorating ideas, printable downloads, useful design resources, and lots of inspiration for people who like to create things.

How About Orange is an awesome blog not only because of the design aesthetic of the blog itself, but also because it offers tons of creative ideas and many free downloads of cool things like decorative desktop background calendars, greeting cards, Twitter backgrounds, and more.

If you visit the website and like the design, colors, and feel, chances are, you’re going to love the content of this site. I’ve downloaded a few things and have found them to be very cute and actually useful. Hard not to take the credit for making them – but, I COULD HAVE made them, I swear – if I really was creative enough.

I recommend this blog if you are interested in: being crafty yourself and getting inspiration from a blog that features somewhat easy/beginner type ideas. If you like downloading free and useful crafts, this is also a great place.

#FEEDFriday – Evil HR Lady

Each Friday I blog and tweet about my favorite blogs to read. Find the hashtag #FEEDFriday on Twitter and/or check here every Friday for info and links to my favorite blogs.

Blog Title: Evil HR LadyEvil HR Lady, screenshot, blog, HR, capture
Description:
‘Why am I evil? Well, I’m not, but that’s the perception of all of us in HR. So, come join me on the Evil Side. Oh, and send me your HR questions.’

I love reading this blog because real people ask real questions all related to the workplace. Sometimes you can relate and sometimes you cringe at what is being asked/answered. It’s definitely informative and helpful, as well as interesting. I also must say I love Suzanne Lucas for her brutal honesty and sense of humor when it comes to answering people’s questions.

I recommend this blog if you are interested in: seeing questions real people are asking. Some might even apply to you. Most of the time it’s just interesting questions and brutally honest answers.
